State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, will host the first of two Fall Youth Advisory Council events on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Yorkville Public Library, bringing local students together to discuss issues important to them and develop their own legislative proposals.

According to the media advisory, students will work in groups to develop and present legislative ideas before voting on which proposal they will advance to the second part of the program in Springfield next spring. During that visit, students will take part in a mock legislative committee hearing centered on their selected proposal, giving them firsthand experience with the legislative process.
