Nearly 700 certified public accountants volunteered across Illinois during the Illinois CPA Society's 17th annual CPA Day of Service, the organization said.
The event was held Sept. 18, 2026. So far, 675 volunteers have taken part in charitable and community service activities, and additional volunteer activities are still planned throughout the fall, according to the society.
Volunteers helped at animal shelters and food banks, built homes for families in need, supported access to bedding and home gardening, and provided accounting and tax services, the release said.
"This annual experience demonstrates the meaningful impact and difference our members and their colleagues can make when they come together in service of others," said Geoffrey Brown, the society's president and CEO. "We're thankful to everyone who contributed their time and talents to the CPA Day of Service this year, and we're proud of the CPA community's continued commitment to giving back and leading by example."
