Illinois Valley Community College will host an Ag Job and Internship Fair on Monday, Nov. 2, showcasing agribusiness and career opportunities in the Illinois Valley area.
The fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon in CTC 124-125 on the Oglesby campus. It is open to college students, community members and area high school students interested in agriculture careers, the college said.
Participants can pre-register at www.ivcc.edu/agriculture, or walk-in registration will be available at the door.
Agriculture representatives at the event will include crop insurers, crop production and protection services, grain handling, ag services, research, and greenhouse and hemp production, according to the college.
"Representatives will highlight their companies' role in agriculture and educate visitors on the impact they could make in the industry," said Agriculture Program Co-Coordinator Willard Mott. "These national employers with local facilities show how employees can build successful careers close to home or take their experience anywhere."
IVCC Agriculture Co-Coordinator Dr. Jennifer Timmers recommended bringing business cards or job resumes to share.
"Attendees should come prepared to ask questions," Timmers said. "Making a connection at the event could pave a path for a future career."
Members of the student Ag Ambassadors will provide campus tours every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Businesses interested in attending and hosting a booth should contact Mott at willard_mott@ivcc.edu or Timmers at jennifer_timmers@ivcc.edu.
