Illinois made more money than ever on gambling taxes last year, according to an annual wagering report from the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability.
The report says state tax revenue from gambling increased 19% over the previous year.
The gains were driven by sports wagering and slot machine revenues, according to the commission.
The findings were detailed in reporting by Capitol News Illinois, a nonprofit, nonpartisan news service covering state government.
