The Illinois Department of Transportation says repairs to a damaged beam on the Illinois 78 bridge over Interstate 74, just east of the Knox County line near Brimfield, begin Oct. 19.

As part of the work, one lane of westbound Interstate 74 at the Illinois 78 interchange will close at 10 p.m. Oct. 24 to replace the damaged bridge beam. The lane is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Oct. 25, according to IDOT.

Additional lane closures will be needed the week of Oct. 26 to finish the project.

Drivers should expect delays and are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
