Correction (Nov 3): An earlier version listed the wrong street for the college's current Macomb campus, which is at 2500 East Jackson Street.

Spoon River College has accepted a $60,000 bid from the Macomb School District to purchase the college's former Macomb campus, the college announced Tuesday.

The Macomb School District, represented by Superintendent Dr. Patrick Twomey, submitted the highest bid for the property Tuesday morning, Nov. 3, 2026, the college said. The auction was conducted by Sullivan Auctioneers.

"We are pleased to move forward with the sale of our former Macomb campus and especially pleased that the property may continue to serve an educational purpose," said Dr. Shelley Barkley, president of Spoon River College. "We look forward to seeing how this property will benefit students and the community in the future."

The college said the transaction remains subject to completion of necessary closing procedures.

The property was originally home to Macomb High School. Spoon River College purchased it in 1983 and used it as its Macomb campus until the college relocated to its current location on East Jackson Street in Macomb in 2025, according to the release.
